Aight. So now we got new refined and more detailed rules.
So far I can't really say much since it has not been tested, but there is one thing.
Class restrictions.
First question is why?
I do not see the reason for them and can see it only a slap against Role playing. The reason the whole system was made(as far as I understood.) was that you can represents your -character- in these story telling events. To escape the restrictions of the game and game mechanics that don't allow to do much.
Now they are back? I mean...just because I am a hunter, I cannot be as good in melee as others? Why? Because for what ever reason somewhere in the past I chose a hunter because I liked the gameplay with it? Now I am basically told roll a rogue.
And yea. Before you say that "No! You can still choose put point in melee."
No. That is not the issue. It is the fact that I am told that I have to suck in melee for the reason the game class is hunter. No matter what I -role play-. Restricted for no real reason. ICishly I could be trained melee combatant, but now I am told that due class, I am to have harder time in it.
Aye, I am ranting about hunters mainly because I have one and it hurts me.
But this is also about roleplay.
What I see is disregard to the character we have made and focus on the class we've chosen. The class should not matter that much, for one could choose it due liking the gameplay, but not the IC way of it. So s/he chose to Roleplay something else.
If you want restrictions. Atleast let us choose them. For this guild does restrict roleplay quite alot allready and I can see it becoming even more restricted due this. And that can also scare or drive off members.
Easy way of restricting but still letting us choose our character, is to have example "Melee oriented", "Ranged oriented" and "Magic oriented" character. That way they can get the bonuses and restrictions according to their -character- and not class.
Aaanyways, that is what I have to say so far.
And to furter my point.(With edit)
Only thing that defines your skill in melee battle, is the melee skill. And with this system your telling a rogue, which is a melee class cannot be as good fighter as warrior? I mean...that is just ridicilous. They can be -just- as good in battle, differently but still.
So unless you take other factors like agility and nimbleness(however it is written) in account, the system is unrealistic.
